Yarmouth computer expert predicts a small business iPhone revolution

A Great Yarmouth computer expert predicts the launch of the Apple iPhone in the UK next week (9th November) could revolutionise the way small businesses in the area operate.

Peter Green, managing director of CSS Computers in North Quay, thinks the iPhone will do for small businesses what the Blackberry device did for big businesses.

He said: "The Blackberry allows people working for big companies to access their email on the move and ensure they are always connected to the office.

"But it isn’t cost effective for businesses with just a few employees. And a Blackberry is considered a corporate tool, which has put a lot of small business owners off.

"Instead I think we will see small businesses in Yarmouth getting iPhones. They are considered a lot more cool, easier to operate and will appeal more to entrepreneurs who run their own business."

The revolutionary phone is the latest product from Apple, and combines an iPod with a mobile. It launches in the UK on Friday 9th November on the O2 network.

Carphone Warehouse said yesterday it thinks it will sell 10,000 iPhones in just four hours on launch day.

Small businesses in Yarmouth will be able to use it to access their email and connect to the internet wherever they are.

Peter has kept up-to-date with the latest computing technology since setting up CSS Computers in the town 18 years ago.

The firm installs networks and PCs for local businesses, then maintains them and trains staff to use them. Its technicians advise on which technology businesses should buy and how to use it properly.

Peter added: "We work in a world now where, rightly or wrongly, people expect you to be available on email around the clock. The iPhone will be an important tool for Yarmouth’s small businesses to ensure they don’t get left behind."
